first sketch face rendering

posted 3 years, 6 months ago under Coloration (auf deutsch lesen)

It’s rare that I draw or paint digitaly, but about every half a year I feel the urge to redeem my tablet from its existence as a dust catcher and improve my digital drawing/painting skills. So yeah, its about that time … actually its way due …
I thought about rendering a sketch, actually I wanted to try it for a long time now and finally got around to do it, so I took one face out of the scans of my Sketchbook “Slave of a Fool”, page 37 face 7 to be precise, and tried to render it … here’s the result:

I just suck in drawing as well as painting (as I just realized) eyes and eyebrows, why are they so frackin dificult to get right … gotta practice them and hair and lots of other stuff and probably do digital paintings more often then just twice a year … but considering the fact, that its around the 20th digital work I’ve done so far and just half of them involved some shaded coloring, I guess the result is not that bad.

Painter scetches

I’m getting used to Painter slowly as well as to my Graphire. I feel like gaining more and more control ower them with every new scetch. There is still much terrible output, that fall victim to instant deletion, but its getting less and less terrible and frustrating.

Guild Wars concepts impact

posted 5 years, 6 months ago under Scetches (auf deutsch lesen)

After beeing depressed from the insufficient results earlier this day, I’m very surprised how easy it was, drawing this 4 scetches and how well they turned out (compared to my digital scetching so far). I almost think the Guild Wars conceptart I’ve seen yesterday hits now its inspirational impact.

Spent hours doodling in painter, but this is the only page, that is adequate enough in a way, to net beeing deleted instantly as all the others were:

doodling with Painter

posted 5 years, 8 months ago under Scetches (auf deutsch lesen)

Yesterday I once again tried Corel Painter IX. At first it asked too much of myself, with all the possibilities and vast number of brushes, that I had to force myself to not shut down Painter and forget about it, as I did the last time I had a look at this application. It took a couple of hours to try all the predefined brushes and find the few, that seemed to be useful.

And because I don’t use my graphire that often, most of the scribbling were that ugly, I had to delete them … it took hours of doodling, until this page turned out:

Have to do more digital scribbling to get a better feeling in using the tablet and getting better with drawing as well as painting … and yeah, I start to like the feel of Painter, I think I should delete all the predefined brushes and create some on my own …

Maya Amano colors

posted 5 years, 8 months ago under Coloration (auf deutsch lesen)

Here it is, my first attempt to color some Lines:
Maya Amano from Persona 2
When I saw this incredible lines by Rose Besch alias bara-chan, I just could not resist to try coloring them, so here we are.
Maya Amano is a main character of the game Persona 2, I actually haven’t heard of it before, but it sounds as if I would have to play it when I’ll got time to do so.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out, though there are still plenty of things I’m not that happy with (e.g. it’s way oversaturated) … have to learn a lot more about colors …
